Closing of a fabulous year and the beginning of an even better one.

BONJOUR.

Not been very active on this over the holidays cause I've been leaving jobs, working, doing project stuff and spending time with my family!

As 2014 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to say how wonderful it has been and how grateful I am for everyone who's been involved! I have done a lot of things this year that I didn't think I could do - I have achieve so much and cannot wait for the adventure ahead! There has been a few bumps along the way but I have had the support and encouragement from my family, boyfriend, friends, college loves and work colleagues which has pulled me through.

This blog is meant to be about my college work but I feel that being more personal makes for a more interesting read. I am pleased to say that my Multiples project is almost complete with the last few photos to be mounted and then a final arrangement of the order in which they will be displayed. And to finalise the whole thing I still need to do my statement for assessment.

Although I am the worlds worst at keeping to schedules when it comes to college work I feel that I always pull through in the end (unusually not the day before this time). My New Years resolution should really be to get that sorted and plan and schedule life a lot better in order to avoid any more breakdowns, fainting spells, chronic headaches and sleepless nights.

I will finish on this note;

I would like to wish all of those reading my blog the best for 2015, I hope it is filled with love and joy - CHEERS

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. TICK TOCK TICK TOCK.

Right, I can hear the clock ticking..and I am beginning to panic uncontrollably.

At least I am up to date and all sorted for Paul and David's class so I can focus on pathways, but I have only just came up with a new idea for displaying my photos and it involves making around 30-40 casts of a camera!!!! YIKES. I have worked it out that I will be able to make them all within a week IF I get moulds made.. which isn't cheap to do!

Currently, whilst I write this I am waiting to re-coat my latex mould (It needs around 15 coats)... it stinks and is taking for ever! I have also made three alginate moulds but each can only produced MAYBE three casts!!! Disaster!...I cant believe I have only just thought of this idea...

SO, I will attempt to pursue this idea BUT I will also be sticking with my original idea - as I only need 100 more photos then! which sounds a lot but within the time frame I should be able to get them all! I never realised how much time this project would take up..

I'm skint, exhausted and SO close to giving up but I shall carry on and hope for the best!...

Clocks Ticking

AHHHHHHHHH. (now breathe)

It's getting closer and closer to all my deadlines and I cannot stop panicking. Although my investigative report for Pauls class is DONE and my first draft of my 10slide Presentation is also DONE I am beginning to worry about my Pathways project. Again and again my confidence is shattered and I want to completely change my mind, I realise this is because I am thinking far to much into the concept - which is confusing enough already. I honestly want to burst into tear whenever I realise just how much I still have to do.

However, I have eventually taken the plunge and sorted out my routine and will have so much more time and energy to focus on things that mean the most to me. I have also worked out a plan for my next few trips through to Edinburgh as I need about 300 MORE photos to create my final piece (which may cost a small fortune).

Sadly I've no pictures to upload this week.

Cheerio for now, wish me luck,

xoxo

IVE BEEN BUSY. SORRY.

Hey all...

I've been so busy with college work, actual work and random stuff that the blog has been neglected. However whilst being neglected I have managed to get on a lot further in my project on multiples. Although I only have around 50 photos I actually like (I need 100 or even 300).

Par exemple...

Rainy Taxi

Toot Toot Tram Aboot

Light Firework...

Centenary Year Poppy Coloured Scot Monument

I have decided that I will experiment with the photos in squares as this focuses on the main part of the photo and I generally think they look a lot more eye catching.

I also looked into CIRCLE photos - yes MINDBLOWING, but they really do look great! And fit in nicely with the blurred light orbs!

Whilst all this creativity is going on I am also carrying out research on my Pathway for Paul's class report and also on my topic for David class, which I have decided this year will be 'Portrayal of domestic violence against women in photography by both a male and female photographer and society's reaction' - another heavy topic but I found it very interesting....

Goodbye for now (its my birthday and refuse to carry on any more college work)

Working progress

MORNING.
(I have the WHOLE day off that's why I can actually do this without rushing or panicking)

So (last week) we had a few directed study classes and I managed to chat to each of my lecturers about my multiples project and so far they all seem to be on board! Which is such a confidence boost - because although I'm confident in talking to people I shy away when it comes to discussing my work and my ideas.

I have some photos I my recent sketchbook work in which I make some decision about how I want to display my photographs!

Firstly I decided to explore the idea of making my photos into Polaroids where I could caption every photo with what it was or where it was taken - so people didn't get confused or doubt it was in Edinburgh....

Then I thought, what if I split the photos up into square and display them like they are above!!

I liked te effect these photos gave but next I have decided I will try laying photos out like this in squares... Instead of cutting them out (if that makes te slightest of sense)

So as you can see the project is coming along nicely, although so far I have about 50 photos and the aim is 300 (I think, as I want to create an IMPACT)

So moving on, I handed in my essay proposal on Friday - I intend to write about The Portrayal of Domestic Abuse against women in photography by both a male and female photographer and society's reaction to the portrayals!

I believe it will be an interesting topic to cover as I have noticed myself, a very big difference in how a male photographer creates a photoshoot on domestic abuse compared to how a female photographer created a similar shoot!

I will study Sara Naomi Lewkowicz and Steven Meisel as well as Nancy 'Nan' Goldin and Tyler Sheilds.

Thankya for reading my babbling this week and stay tuned for more ❤️

Adios amigos xo

After the October break...

Firstly, apologies for this being so late I have been crazy busy!

3D WORKSHOP
SO, in Alison's class we are still perfecting and casting our apertures which is quite a lengthy process so it is ongoing week after week....

IM MAKIN' A BUS

PDP
In Paul's class we spent a lot of time looking at pathways and our future, all very exciting and scary. He gave us a project that involves LOTS of research into each of the three main pathways and then all that comes under these pathways.

MULTIPLES (EWAN)
I decided to head home after Paul's class as the resources (photoshop) is VERY limited at college and I wanted to dedicate more time to my project than the class/resources would allow seeing as I have photoshop at home...
Here is one (gotta keep the rest secret) image that I have worked on recently...

Can you see Scots Monument?

I'm not sure why but this is my favourite photo so far....

VIDEO SKILLS
So Kyle had us film some footage from around the college in order for us to edit to make a film using FINAL CUT as it is a more advance type of movie making software. Honestly I found this WAAAY more complicated but the result so far are much better than Movie Maker..although sadly I am going to have to stick with movie maker as NO WAY can I afford Final Cut...
Still proper enjoying this class, I WANT TO MAKE MORE MOVIEEEEES (but I am really busy)

Basically I'm now done with my learning from that week as my head is killing me AGAIN (has been for a few weeks now) so adiós!

shitemare

BONJOUR.

So today I had a 'chat' about my proposal for my Multiples brief and basically - ITS SHITE.

I was led to believe that my pathway could be Applied Art Practice, Visual Communication or Contemporary Art Practice therefore I had chosen to do Visual Communication as it involves graphics, photography, illustration etc but today I found out that I have to choose ONE pathway.... such as photography.... but that limits me?! So I am currently very very VERY VERY very very confused about both my theme and my pathway. Ultimately I give the fuck up this week and will start a fresh on Monday (maybe).

SOOOO if anyone has any guidance, advice, ideas or a solution I would greatly appreciate your help.

Bye bitches xoxox

NETWORKING

Creating a network.

Today we used the mind maps of the present such as our studies and personal life as well as our dreams and aspirations to create a network between us all. I discovered that there were so many different dreams and goals within the class yet so many links such as some wanting to study photography and film like myself as well as keeping fit and actually completing the course. It gave me an understanding of what my fellow class mates are capable of and what they wish to learn more about, which means that we can help one another – Catherine can sew, so if I fancied making a dress I could go to her, Robert studied photography, so if I required some advice I can go to him and so on. It also made me realise just how much more I want to get out of this course, I really did struggle to come up with words for my mind map until I seen the rest of them – which flooded my head with ideas.
Throughout this exercise I felt that the whole class were getting to know one another again, it was a case of “Who wants to do fashion?” “Oh, I didn’t know you want to do that, that’s fantastic” as well as unearthing several hidden talents, jobs and goals. I just hope this allows the lecturers to also understand what we all want to do. None of us are the same, especially as we are art students (the craziest, wackiest, most individual type of students) and that we don’t expect a workshop in each of our ‘areas of interest’ we merely expect help and guidance on how to find those who can dedicate time to teaching us new and more professional techniques.

Overall I hated the first part as I was lost for words (about MY OWN future – crazy) but when we made the connections I seen the positive in the exercise, possibly not the same as anyone else but I genuinely feel I have learned a lot more about my classmates and their hidden talents and that I would love to both give and receive advise from everyone throughout my course.

My own mind map.

WEEK SOMETHING.

SO this week began with handing in my proposal for my multiples brief. I intend to explore and present a unique view of parts of Edinburgh from a rats eye view, and a child's imagination. Using photography, video and illustration/graphics.

I AM EXCITED but its still got to be approved by the lecturers. DUN DUN DUUUUN.
Paul's class involved some more personal stuff, like taking about our plans and future etc... a daunting prospect in my eyes.

Moving on to Thursday, we began with Kyles Video class where we had to show off our video diaries! They were all SO GOOD, I was very impressed. This class, although not directly teaching us how to creating and edit videos if allowing me to understand and plan how to use video to get your point across or just simply capture attention for a while. I cant wait to get started on some video for my multiples brief. PS, I tried to upload my video but apparently its TOO FABULOUS (over 100mb)

Friday involved showing off our 'Scottish Superheroes' - not my most favourite homework... but none the less I done it and told the class about student Grace Lomond fighting the government baddies using tax payers money for experiments and weapons.
That evening I went through to Edinburgh (FINALLY - TIME TO GO BACK) with my mum and sister, we had dinner and I took photos of the city at night for multiples. My mum is a great influence in my work and she was helping direct me and encourage me to just take the photos I wanted and not worry.

So now this week coming involves.. creating a video based on 'Dreams', Multiples project work and actual work.... BUZZ.

Plan Chaos

HEY.

So this past week has been pretty chaotic and I am not entirely sure why. Basically I have hit a very big brick wall in my thought process and I am struggling so so so hard to work out what to do for my theme. I have a few ideas I have decided to write up into a PLP (Personal Learning Plan) that I will then choose from once I have more confidence in them and myself.

Also because of work etc I haven't had the time to go back to Edinburgh but hopefully just before one of my shifts I will be able to squeeze in a wee brugh visit. This will hopefully help me to decide on what idea is best - we can only hope. But amongst all of this I have found an interesting way to illustrate Edinburgh through the fabulous Instagram

How beautiful ae!?

Im really liking Kyle's video class although my videos so far have been shite and I haven't wanted to admit that I have even done them but I have to many ideas for up and coming videos but I just need time to work on them - eventually I will have time again - life is just a bit chaotic.

We also had a printmaking workshop with Catherine and that was fun aswell, although because of my lack of theme I had a lack of ideas to make into prints which was so disappointing.

Onwards and upwards.

Ciao xo

Week DUEX

So this week we spent more time research our multiples project and also planning our Edinburgh trip which is today! I actually cannot wait as I want to take so many photos and see all the attractions we have on our intinery. Lunch and dinner is another fave part of the day for me - buzzing.

Paul's class was pretty straight forward we have to create several sort of PLP style things with relation to a few of our multiples project ideas. EASY PEASY.

In our class with Kyle we have a few little projects to work on to get us into the swing of video recording, sound recording and then compiling it all together to create a short film. I am really enjoying the sound of this class (as it was my first time attending). We also watched a very odd film I'll probably never forget "Un Chien Andalou" which involved hairy armpits, ants in a mans hands, a razor cutting a woman's eye open, severed hands and several deaths. Not at all pleasing but shows you can put almost ANYTHING into a film as it is most likely to capture an audience if it's crazy...

During our next class, Dots class I spent a lot of my time researching photography and gettin ideas of how and what I will photograph when I go to Edinburgh!

In Edinburgh on Friday it was rather quite good! First we went up Fleshmarket Close which was a heck of a lot of stairs! Whilst half the group were in Mary Kings Close the other half went a walk up the royal mile to the castle! I got so many photos and then we had lunch and met up with Ewan and Kyle to talk about what we had got up to so far! I then went to te Childhood Museum with Bethan which was so interesting! After that we met up with the rest of the group and had dinner and cocktails!

Jolly good show! Xox

First Week of SECOND YEAR

BACK AGAIN.

Hello, I'm now in my second year of my BA Art and Design and I cannot express how relieved I am to be back into a routine and structured day! Summer was chaotic with work taking over my life and truthfully I did not enjoy that one bit (although many monies was pleasant).

^ out and about with the better half

First day back was good - we got to grips with our 'Multiples' project and I'm buzzing for our Edinburgh trip as I cannot wait to get back behind the camera! Our project is, as mentioned above, based on 'multiples' which gives me endless ideas! My first idea was to use the multiple transport links in and around Edinburgh (yes the project HAS to be based on Edinburgh) buuuut I am keeping my options open as I keep on having brainwaves.

Unfortunately the weekend before we went back I was involved in a minor accident (IM ABSOLUTELY FINE INJURY WISE) and my head hasn't been in the right place to concentrate on anything but the Edinburgh project as I cannot contain my excitement to do some photography. FINALLY getting to do something I ENJOY.

So moving on from that I'm buzzing for Year Two....

                                                                BRING IT ON!

Light at the end of the tunnel

Wow, what a year this has been.

Finally come Friday 30th May I will hand in my final piece of work in order to complete my folio for 1year of my degree.
The pressure and stress of working two jobs, goin to college (working at home) and moving house the final two months of the year has finally disappeared and I can relax.

I have learned so much throughout this year and determined many things I can and can kinda do as well as thing I'm really not a big fan of. I feel that the year has consisted of me teaching myself with the lecturing system being a bit chaotic but none the less they were there when I needed them.

I only fainted once during that year so HORRAY. I will miss my class very muchly during summer as we all live so far away for each other it will be hard to hang out. However I will see them for definate when we rekindle for second year (fingers crossed our classmates don't change much).

Although I thought at times I wanted to leave college and just work whilst I sobbed into a sketchbook and pencil sharpenings I actually can't wait for second year - one step closer to graduation.

I will maybe post some of my art projects and summer adventures on here whilst off for three months(ish) but I can't promise anything as I'm a busy bee.

Hope y'all reading this have a lovely summer and to my classmates - see you next year xoxo

All will be revealed in due course ;)

Easter Holidays

So as we approach the end of the first week of our fortnight off I've realised I haven't done as much on my projects as I had hoped BUT I have done a wee but nonetheless whilst juggling work, renovating a three bed house and having time to relax!

I bought some beautiful ribbons for part of my journey project for pathways! Hopefully I manage to use them the way I've planned!

I also bought myself some lovely alphabet stamps AHHHH never been so excited to stamp things in my life!!!!

So both projects due for review once I'm back to college are going ORITE EH, jus got lots more to do but it's totally achievable, plus I work best when I have to rush things the night before... typical student (I should not admit these things).

Finishing off this wee post, wishing you all a Happy Easter and here is something I've been working on NOT to do with college work.

      Ciao xo

Journey ideas

So we got our brief for our pathways project and it's rather exciting! We have to make a book about a journey!

I've a few ideas but the one I feel most interesting is the one about my mums breast cancer journey...

I've a few ideas of what my book could be made of too such as glass panels with inserts and types of typography on vinyl transferred onto the glass!! AHHH SO MUCH EXCITEMENT.

Also in spare time I've been editing some of the photos from my friends and I's photoshoot! TA DA

Anyway, off to do more research xoxo

Light At The End of The Tunnel...

 Evening...

Tonight's blog post is going to be all about my pathways project, due TUESDAY (NOT PANICKING/SCREAMING/DYING AT ALL).

At the beginning of the project I bought these orange cones which I intended to melt and mould and draw on etc BUT.. then I found out melting PVC is poisonous, FABULOUS. So, because I've left it so long I now have two days to make these into something using a method that wont kill me...

I have also been working on typography as part of the visual communication pathway in this project as that is the path I think I have more interests in. I made a traffic light out of words that you associate with the lights and traffic. Then, I made a orange traffic cone out of words associated with roadworks! Whatcha think!?!?!

Then for visual communication AGAIN I have taken photographs that I have taken myself of traffic and roadwork related scenes and then edited them to make the colours more vibrant.

I think as a final piece I could have a few of these images mounted as a piece of 'photography' hmmmmm....

To finish off this wee blog post here is a picture of my little monster cousin and I when we had a sleepover. Although I look like more of a monster in this....

Work work and more work

Evening!

The past few weeks have been crazy busy with briefs for Pauls Study Skills class, and then a big ass brief for Pathways Project (plus work and all sorts)  sooooo blogging has been the least of my worries sadly, because I do love it!

I'm quite proud of myself when it comes to doing work for Paul's class as I finish it waaaaay before the deadline and get the jist of what I need to do for each brief.

Nooooow for Pathways Project, which is going OKAY... But then again I am struggling so bad to expand the ideas so much so that I have 'final pieces'. Then again I'm not entirely sure what I'd even do as a final piece, whether it be full size or a miniature.

               Mini cones wooooo!!!

Not got much time left at all to get my shit together but it's getting there slowly but surely. Hmmmmm wish me luck.

Week beginning Monday 3rd..

Morning!

Bit late in posting my reflection on last week but I have had literally no spare moment to sit down and write but now I do!

Monday began with 'directed study' which I decided would be best spent at home until our 2pm class, and this proved to be a good choice to make as I managed to get the work for Paul's class done within half an hour and had the rest of the morning to look over my notes for the Pathways Presentation - roll on 2pm.

In Ewan's class we began the Pathways Presentations but never go through them all, although the ones we did were FABULOUS and had me even more nervous for my turn at presenting! I was told I would get to do mine on the Tuesday (if I had been smart I could have altered and rehearsed my presentation in prep for Tuesday). I took that opportunity and wasted it, but it was for the best as a night to relax and not do any college work and just have a nice dinner out etc was by far the best way to calm my nerves.

Tuesday brought with it a wee nervous belly, as although I am confident in speaking I was soooooooooooooooo nervous I hadn't done it right as my presentation was nothing like any that had been done already.
I was last to go (out of who was there on Tuesday) which could've been both the best and worst position to be in. I cannot believe how well it went - I got right into it and could not hide my passion for what I was talking about, because in effect I was talking about what I want to do with my life and how I want to go about making a living! The comments on my presentation were amazing and my class were so supportive, definitely in with a great bunch of people. Then we got given our next brief ...

Which I was buzzing to begin and am so far enjoying the research stage!

Friday was the next day I had to be back in college, but I was very very sick and couldn't move from bed without collapsing so mum didn't want me driving so I couldn't even get my critical essay, and never did I ever think I would be so upset about not getting an essay and feedback returned. I emailed and am awaiting a reply so fingers-crossed I haven't done a diabolical essay so much so he has went into hiding.

So, that's it! What I was up to that week, and now I am half way through my week off and done some college work research and also spent a lot of time out and about with my camera as I haven't been able to do photography leisurely for AGES.

Pathways Project Presentation worries...

Oh how I wish I had been there and grabbed myself a few Banksy bargains.

Apologies, digressing slightly from my intent for this post which is to worry, panic and cry over this afternoons presentation. Although I am very happy with the outcome so far I am SOOOOOO worried that its not what they are looking for! I carried out some basic research on some of my personal favourites from each of the three pathways, each artist being a professional in a different method under the three headings, then I expressed a few lines on why I chose them and what appeals to me about their work. I thought this was the best idea because they are my inspiration and I would like to follow in their footsteps. WHO KNOWS BUT, I will found out soon enough if what I have done is correct or not.

Ps. I've also finished the work Paul gave us so I have until 2pm to chill (OR WORRY MY ASS OFF)

This be a selfie I took whilst in the Mac lab a few weeks ago ahaha!

Toodles for now

EVENING YOU GORGEOUS HUMANS

So its been a busy week, working doubly hard on my pathways presentation and trying not to forget about my critical essay (THAT IS DUE FRIDAY 31ST). Thank goodness the article I picked for my essay was very interesting in my opinion; all about photography which is such a passion of mine!

Here's a little look at my presentation due Monday, WHICH SUCKS because I had a family thing at 2pm and cant go.

Not blowing my own trumpet or that but I think its looking simple and sophisticated.

Moving back to my critical essay I have decided to base it all on Terry Richardson, who I personally believe has a little s'thing, s'thing that makes his outrageous scantily clad pictures a pleasure to look at...

All sourced from terrysdiary.com on his official website

I had a good look through his blog (got to about page 80) and really liked most of his work, although some of the work was a bit X rated.. which makes me understand the point Hadley Freeman is making in her article.

Sweet love for now, until next time xoxoxo

Time for a break

Now that Drawing, Creative Concepts, Study Skill and Specialist Skills are all handed in and awaiting marking I can relax. Usually optimistic is making is easier to remain relaxed about grades for the time being. Thank goodness!

Another picture from the Photoshop workshop

Not back to college until the 27th which is FABULOUS, a week where I've hardly any college coursework and can therefore focus on my photography as I've had literally no time to do it since this time last year which is ridiculous.

A photograph I took from my scale project

Although the week off isn't exactly no work and all play, I only have a 500 critical essay and some pathway project research to do, both interesting and relatively essay to do; time flies when you're having fun!

Laaaaaters xoxo

Festivities Galore

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
xox

So now that Christmas and New Year are out of the way as with my hectic work schedule it is time to properly knuckle down and get my final pieces finished for Block One.

I can safely say that I have completely finished Drawing and am very satisfied with the result. Sadly, I still cant decide on a final piece for Creative Concepts AHHH and Specialist Skills is proving most difficult as getting myself into the right mood to research online etc is impossible UGH.

I will get there eventually. To end this beauty of a post here are some of my favourite pieces of work from our most recent Photoshop workshop with Dee in Specialist Skills.

Peace and Love xoxox
